Fall FAQ: What we're asked & what we say

Hey friends!
Fall is creeping in—and so are the questions landing in our inbox! We love hearing from you; two have been popping up more than others lately. So, let’s dish out some real answers—with honesty and humor.
❓ “Why is this more expensive than a restaurant?”
Fair question—and here’s the truth:

When you dine at a restaurant, you share space, a kitchen, and staff with dozens (or hundreds) of other guests. The costs are spread out.
But when you book One and Done with Cookie, it’s all about your menu, schedule, preferences, and event. You're hiring a private chef and a dedicated team for one unforgettable night.
We’re not just cooking a meal—creating a restaurant-quality (or better!) experience, designed entirely around you. No waiting for a table, no strangers singing “Happy Birthday,” and no settling for something off the menu.
It’s handcrafted, personal, and made with love (and maybe a little butter). That’s what makes it special—and worth the investment.
💰 “Why can’t you do $40/person events?”
We get it—$40 per person sounds reasonable.
But once you factor in:
Quality ingredients
Our talented team
Prep, setup, and cleanup
Taxes, gratuity, and planning time
That number gets stretched thinner than willpower near a dessert table.
We don’t cut corners. We cook from scratch, we use ingredients we’re proud of, and we treat every dish with care. If we can’t do it right, we’d rather kindly pass than compromise the magic that makes our events shine.
It’s never about turning anyone away—it’s about protecting the standard we hold dear so that every guest walks away with a wow, not just a plate.
Thank you for asking these questions and understanding what goes into what we do. We’re not just serving food, we’re crafting memories, one event at a time.
Cheers.
Cookie + Dana 🥂
